Ciprés de Portugal

This cypress, that owes its name to the great popularity reached in Portugal, comes from Mexico and Guatemala, where it growths 30m. The seeds are quite pendent and form a quite broad cone, generally with only one trunk whose branches are opener than the cypress of Lambet. The specific characteristics are the young light green cones of 1,5cm diameter. The foliage is green-grayish, with scale-shaped leaves of sharp open apexes. Its flagrant and durable wood is highly appreciated in its origin.

Encyclopedia BLUME, Trees, wood and forests of the world, H. Edlin/M.Nimmo, page 91.

It is a tree of Mexican origin - seeds from a seedy patch of land based on imported seeds.

It is a plant, which reaches a very good size, whose foliage exudes essential aromatic oil with pleasant citric smell.

Foliage color: brilliant green, much more "lively" than the cypress lambertiana.

It is quick in good soils.

Great quality of wood. Very good timber.
